About
Jean-Patrick Nova earned a B.A. in Cinema & Comparative Literature from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Film & Video Art from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Currently, he teaches Video and Multimedia classes at The Art Institute of Dallas and works as an editor, motion graphics artist, and colorist for Side Chops - Motion Content Studio in Dallas. Jean-Patrick's films have been screened at festivals nationally.
Through the genre of experimental science fiction, his films seek new visual and aural landscapes while reviving the constructed worlds envisioned throughout the history of science fiction filmmaking.
Jean-Patrick explores the creation of time-based abstractions that reveal the materiality of film and video while evoking a metaphysical experience in the viewer. His narratives employ absurdity and camp to engage the viewer in an ontological conversation about conformity and modernity.
